Improving Corporate Board Effectiveness of African Organisations

Improving Corporate Board Effectiveness of African Organisations

Today’s Boards whether in developed or developing countries have to face a lot of challenges like, financial crisis, corporate scandals, and in the case of developing countries particularly Africa, constant political interference with the running of the organisations. Yet Boards have to carry out their fiduciary duties and now these directors are faced with oversight accountability and can be personally liable for some of the decisions they make that can result in some of the challenges organisations face.

Yet, it cannot be emphasised enough that Boards in both the public and private sectors in Africa need to be effective to deliver on their mandate to help management deliver sustainable and thriving organisations and businesses. This seminar is designed to enhance Board members understanding of how to make their Boards more effective.

Major Focus of the Seminar

  • What is Board ineffectiveness?
  • Why are some Boards ineffective?
  • What is an effective Board?
  • Features of an effective Board.
  • Other suggestions on how to make a Board more effective.
