Sustainable growth and development has eluded most African countries for a long period of time. This can be attributed to both internal and external factors. Yet sustainable economic growth is a sins-qua-non to Africa's development. Without sustainable growth, Africa will not meet many of its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) targets as well as the requisite living standards that governments on the continent aspire to.
The African Sustainable Growth and Development Initiative at the African Graduate School of Management and Leadership will bring scholars from around the world to undertake research to find solutions to this issue.
Their research will inform the content and new courses that will be developed at the school to teach policy makers, entrepreneurs, business leaders as well as private and public sector employees to enhance their skills to contribute to this effort. Research outputs on relevant issues pertaining to sustainable growth and development in Africa will be published and talks as well as conferences will be held to share such knowledge.
